I have been a colleague and peer of Nick's since before his transition into industry post-academia. Nick has revolutionized his professional identity -- he has leveraged his existing skillset while building out an entirely new repertoire of certified and emergent best practices. His experience creating Unbracket from the ground up has been nothing short of breathtaking: not only did Nick design/actualize the app, but he pilot tested, quality assured, and rolled out the software with tremendous success. It has been inspiring for not only me but many of his academic colleagues to see him navigate the technology space with incredible grace and poise; his commitment to learning the craft while creating/leaving his own mark is truly one of a kind.

In their words
The 2 most recent receipts, uneditedDr. Clarkson is a talented professor who is able to find ways to make a broad interdisciplinary field relevant to a wide variety of students. His lessons often used relevant media to explore topics in an engaging manner, including literature and journals as well as film, television, memoir, and documentary. After one Intro to Gender Studies course I felt like I had a very strong foothold on a very broad and multifaceted topic and I actually went on to add Gender Studies as a double-major after this.
I took one of Dr. Clarkson’s courses during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic (Spring 2020). While some of my instructors struggled with the shift to online teaching and many students struggled with the shift to online learning during the middle of the semester, Dr. Clarkson jumped right in and was ready to lead a course via Zoom. He checked in with us at the start of every course and used these check-ins as well as breakout groups to form a sense of classroom community despite the challenges of online learning.
